Getting Started
Learn what Context Repo is, what you can do with it, and how to get started with prompt management, document processing, and MCP-powered AI workflows.
Context Repo is a prompt management and knowledge platform that connects your AI context — prompts, documents, and curated collections — to the tools you already use. Whether you're working in Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, VS Code, or any other MCP-compatible client, Context Repo gives you a single workspace to create, organize, version, and access everything your AI assistants need.
What You Can Do
Prompts
Create reusable prompt templates with dynamic variables using ${variableName} syntax. Every edit is automatically versioned, so you can restore any previous version at any time. Organize prompts into collections, make them public or private, and access them from any connected AI client.
Documents
Upload files in 75+ formats — PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, images with OCR, and more. You can also scrape web pages directly or write documents in markdown. Each document gets full version history and becomes searchable across your workspace.
Collections
Group related prompts and documents into collections for easy organization. Collections act as folders for your AI knowledge — perfect for project-based workflows, team resources, or topic-specific bundles. With a paid plan, you can chat directly with a collection's contents using Collection Chat.
MCP Server
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is how Context Repo connects to your AI assistants. It provides 26 tools that let clients like Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and ChatGPT read, create, update, and search your workspace — all without leaving your AI workflow.
Search
Find anything in your workspace with two search modes: semantic search (which understands meaning, not just keywords) and keyword search (for exact matches). Filter results by type — prompts, documents, or collections — and drill into detailed content with progressive disclosure.
